Yes, the flag on the prior page was the First
Official Flag. It was voted in by the Continental Congress
on June 14, 1777. This is why June 14 is celebrated as Flag Day.
A Congressional resolution stated , "…that the union be 13 stars, white
in a blue field, representing a new constellation." However, it did
not specify how to align the stars. Therefore, the flag designers
at that time arranged them in rows, half circles, and full circles.
Louisville was founded in 1778 as part of the territory of Virginia,
and this state was one of the Original Thirteen Colonies. Consequently,
Louisville also displayed the 13 star union on its original flag.
